Dental implants FAQ
Do I really need to replace just one missing tooth?
A missing tooth leaves a gap in your smile, which can make you feel self conscious about your appearance. In addition to this, even one lost tooth causes issues with other teeth as well as your gums and bone which can damage your oral health. Dental implants are a way to replace one tooth or all your teeth, giving you back a solid, healthy smile.
Am I a candidate for implants?
For successful implant placement, you need to be in good overall health, have good dental health and sufficient bone structure. Dr. David Hassid will perform a full evaluation to see if dental implants would fit your personal situation.
How do I take care of my implants?
Treat your implants like you would your natural teeth. Brush at least twice a day, floss regularly, and schedule routine checkups. Following these steps will make for successful implant therapy and a beautiful smile.
What are implant-supported dentures?
If you are not a candidate for dental implants to replace all your teeth, we may recommend implant-supported dentures with your existing dental appliance. With implant-supported dentures, several titanium posts are placed in your bone and the denture snaps on to the implants, increasing stability and retention.
How long will my dental implants last?
With a good dental hygiene routine that includes daily brushing and flossing in addition to regular check-ups and teeth cleaning, your dental implants can last a lifetime. The success rate of dental implants in healthy individuals is above 90%.
