Hygiene

When visiting the Montrose dentist office, preventive dental care is our focus at Hassid Dental and your recall visit is just as important as your other dental treatment visits. Our goal is to improve and maintain longevity of your natural smile, great oral health and general wellness.

During your regular check-up, Montrose dentist Dr. David Hassid and his Houston general dentistry team, will conduct a thorough assessment of your dental health to detect potential issues before they become serious problems. In addition, you will have a professional teeth cleaning and will be provided with the educational tools you need to establish and continue healthy dental hygiene habits.

The check-up

The check-up portion of your recall visit includes a health history update and a soft-tissue/oral cancer screening. Dr Hassid will examine your bite and your TMJ (temporomandibular joint); examine your entire mouth; and look for any signs of disease, particularly decay and periodontal (gum) disease. He will discuss with you anything he finds before your visit is over. We encourage asking any questions you might have regarding your oral condition.

The cleaning

The cleaning portion of your recall visit will be provided by our professional hygiene team members. Your hygienist will first remove tooth stains and work to soften any plaque or calculus deposits on the enamel. The surface of the teeth will then be polished to remove any remaining stains and the teeth will be flossed. We also offer an optional fluoride treatment because it has an anti-bacterial effect and it also strengthens the teeth against decay, which helps to prevent periodontal (gum) disease.

Your treatment will be complete with personalized instructions for oral care at home.

Dr. Hassid will recommend the best recall interval for your dental needs. Remember, the six-month interval is not ideal for every patient. We want your recall visit to be an effective and pleasant experience.

The treatment and care you receive at Hassid Dental will be much more effective if you follow up with good oral care at home. Remember the techniques that our hygiene team provided to you and put them to good use. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions about what you should be doing at home.
