The Houston Food Bank feeds 137,000 different people each week. It is the nation’s largest Feeding America food bank and source of food. It was founded in 1982 and is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network. The organization projects growth by 2018 to an annual distribution of 100 million nutritious meals.

Holocaust Museum Houston recently achieved accreditation from the American Association of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition possible for a museum in the United States. The museum is "dedicated to educating people about the Holocaust, remembering the 6 million Jews and other innocent victims and honoring the survivors' legacy. Using the lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides, we teach the dangers of hatred, prejudice and apathy."
