Crowns

A crown (cap) is a full coverage restoration of a tooth.

Dr. David Hassid is one of the most thorough cosmetic dentists Houston has to offer as he will explain to you the advantages and disadvantages of crowns, or caps in-depth so that you feel at ease.

Crowns, or caps, are most commonly used to restore broken down or cracked teeth. They are full coverage restorations that can be made from a variety of materials such as porcelain, a combination of porcelain and precious metals or full cast precious metal (a gold crown).

Crowns are usually needed after the completion of root canal therapy and may be used to securely attach a bridge, if the surrounding teeth are not strong enough to support it.

Dr. Hassid will slightly reduce the natural tooth and an impression will be made. A temporary crown will be placed on the tooth for a short amount of time while a custom fitting crown is fabricated. Most often, two visits to our cosmetic dentists Houston office are needed to complete the restoration.
